Overview

D4D keeps working through dead zones for the things you do in the field: capturing leads, moving leads on the lead board, and starting or ending a drive. Those changes are saved on your device and sent automatically when your connection comes back.

D4D is not a full offline app. Pages need a connection to open, maps need a connection to load, and routes can't be downloaded for offline use. For directions without signal, hand your route to Google Maps (see Driving a Route Without Signal).

What Works Offline

These work once the page is already open:

✅ Lead capture - The capture page, and quick capture during a drive, save the lead with its photos, notes, and GPS location to your device when there's no signal
✅ Lead board moves - Dragging a lead to a new stage is queued and applied when you reconnect
✅ Drive tracking - Starting and ending a drive is queued with its GPS location
✅ Your leads list - If you loaded it in the last 24 hours, the list shows from the copy saved on your device (up to 500 leads)

What Needs a Connection

❌ Opening any D4D page, including the capture page. Open it before you lose signal and leave it open
❌ Maps - The lead map, route maps, and neighborhood maps load from the internet. Nothing is saved for offline use
❌ Routes - Viewing, building, and optimizing routes, and Today's Route. Routes can't be downloaded
❌ Street addresses for new captures - GPS works without internet, but looking up the address for a GPS point needs a connection. A lead captured offline may save with its location only; fill in the address later
❌ Research - Owner lookups, skip tracing, comps, and deal analysis
❌ Team features and analytics

How Syncing Works

Pending items:

Anything saved offline is marked pending
The sync status in the app shows how many items are waiting

Automatic sync:

Pending captures sync on their own once the app confirms it can reach the server
It also checks again when you reopen the app or switch back to it
You can sync by hand: open the Sync Queue panel and tap Sync All

Retries:

A capture that fails to sync is retried up to 5 times
Photos upload after their lead lands. If a photo upload fails, the lead is kept and the photo stays pending

Signed out vs offline:

If your session expired, the app shows "Signed out · sign in to sync" instead of "Offline"
Your pending items stay on the device. Sign in again and they sync

Signing out keeps your pending captures. If anything hasn't synced when you tap Sign Out, D4D tells you what's waiting and offers Sync now. Choose Sign out anyway and the captures stay on this device and upload the next time you sign in with the same account. If someone else signs in on this device first, they never see, sync or delete yours.

Master Logout ("Logout & Clear All Data" in Settings) and Clear Offline Caches are different: they delete everything stored on the device, including unsynced captures. D4D warns you first and says how many would be lost.

Where pending items live:

In this browser, on this device only
Clearing the browser's site data before they sync deletes them
They don't show up on your other devices or for your team until they sync

Driving a Route Without Signal

D4D's route map needs a connection, and D4D orders stops by straight-line distance, not roads or traffic. For road directions, live traffic, and offline navigation, use Google Maps:

While you still have signal, open your route (or Today's Route) and tap Open in Google Maps. Each link covers up to 10 stops, starting from where you are, so long routes open in parts
In Google Maps, download an offline area covering where you'll drive (Google Maps → your profile picture → Offline maps → Select your own map)
Google Maps can then navigate inside that area without signal

Keep D4D's capture page open alongside Google Maps so you can save leads as you go.

Before a Drive in a Low-Signal Area

✅ Open the capture page while you have signal, and leave it open
✅ Open your route in Google Maps and download an offline area, if you need directions
✅ Check nothing is pending from your last drive
✅ Allow location access for D4D, so GPS works without signal

After the drive:

✅ Open D4D somewhere with signal
✅ Wait for pending items to reach 0 (or tap Sync All)
✅ Fill in addresses for any leads that saved with a location only

Troubleshooting

A Page Won't Open Without Signal

Expected. D4D pages check your sign-in on the server each time they open, so they need a connection. Open the capture page before you lose signal and keep the tab or app open.

Captures Aren't Syncing

Check the status label
- "Offline" - the app can't reach the server yet. Move somewhere with signal
- "Signed out · sign in to sync" - sign in again; your pending captures are kept
Sync by hand - Open the Sync Queue panel and tap Sync All
Reopen the app - It checks for pending items when it opens
Don't use Master Logout, Clear Offline Caches, or clear your browser's site data until the pending count is 0. A normal Sign Out is safe: it keeps pending captures

GPS Isn't Working Offline

GPS doesn't need internet - Only maps and address lookups do
Allow location access - Device settings → Apps (or your browser) → Location → Allow
Get a clear view of the sky - Move away from tall buildings and trees, then wait 30-60 seconds
